Talk about a pitching duel. Tommy Milone of the A's and Gavin Floyd both went to the eighth inning. Floyd only gave up 2 hits and 2 walks but the last of his two walks came in the eighth and would come around to score after Matt Thornton took over. Thornton would give up his first earned run of the season to give the A's the two runs they would score in this game. Milone went eight full innings only giving up 3 hits. Balfour came on and nailed down the save. The Sox are not usually very good against soft tossing left handed pitchers such as Milone and part of it is because we dont have many left hand hitters in our clubhouse. Today's lineup only had one lefty and so Milone was able to get his changeup up and in on our right handed hitters and they just couldn't do anything with it today.
